AL35 | THE SELF-PROCLAIMED CHAMPION OF FREEDOM FAILS HIS FIRST TEST

It seems that, in some speeches, freedom comes with conditions we somehow missed: you may speak, yes… just not say anything we dislike.

In a discourse built around freedom of expression, participation, and the exchange of opinions, the most dangerous thing a citizen apparently can do is actually use that freedom.

A journalist published a constitutional proposal — not a decree, not an order, and certainly not a declaration of a coup.

The response was: “So we stop the elections and wait for you to write an article for us.”

Then came the even more amusing question: “Run for office, or don’t impose your constitution on a people who has no president.”

But wait… who said a proposal was a decision? And who said writing an idea means imposing it on the people?

And there lies the irony: the man asks people to speak, until someone actually speaks — and then asks: “Why did you speak?”

It seems “freedom of expression” was working perfectly… until it reached its own doorstep.

Perhaps the funniest part is that the paper had no army, no tank, and not even a button to stop the elections.

It was simply a piece of paper saying: “Here is my proposal… what do you think?”

And here, we lay our pen aside; if freedom ends at the first opposing opinion, perhaps the problem is not the constitution… but the ability to tolerate reading it.

Freedom is not allowing people to speak, only to silence them when you dislike what they say.

The hardest test for a self-proclaimed defender of freedom… is hearing a voice that does not applaud him.
