حِصاني كانَ دَلّالَ المَنايا ... فَخاضَ غُبارَها وَشَرى وَباعاوَسَيفي كانَ في الهَيجا طَبيباً ... يُداوي رَأسَ مَن يَشكو الصُداعا
The most famous verses of Antarah ibn Shaddad in describing him, which later highlighted his courage and pride, are: “My horse was the guide of death… so he waded through its dust and bought and sold. And my sword was a physician in battle… it heals the head of whoever complains of a headache.”
