Portugal stands exhausted.
Five wars. Five fronts. Five fires burning at the same time.
What once looked like a dominant rising power has now become a nation overwhelmed by military losses, collapsing stability, and growing fear spreading across its territories.
The Moroccan front became Portugal’s deepest wound. Even after narrowly holding parts of the conflict, the price of that “victory” was devastating What was meant to show strength instead exposed weakness.
In Egypt, Portuguese forces started losing strategic positions as resistance . Tunisia turned into a constant nightmare of attrition and surprise attacks. Malta became another disaster zone, with naval losses mounting and defensive lines failing under continuous pressure.
Facing collapse across multiple fronts, Portugal began urgently calling upon allied nations and proxy states for support. Emergency military shipments, mercenary contracts, intelligence coordination, and economic lifelines started arriving from different parts of the world in an attempt to stop the chain reaction from spiraling further.
Some allies intervened to protect their interests.
Others feared that Portugal’s downfall could reshape the balance of power across entire regions.
Yet despite all the external support, the situation continued deteriorating.
Because even alliances have limits.
