من خالد بن الوليد إلى مرازبة فارس،

سلام على من اتبع الهدى.

فإني أحمد إليكم الله الذي لا إله إلا هو، أما بعد، حمد الله الذي فض خدمتكم، وفرق كلمتكم، ووهن بأسكم، وسلب ملككم.

فإذا جاءكم كتابي هذا فابعثوا إليَّ بالرهن، واعتقدوا مني الذمة، وأجيبوا إلى الجزية، فإن لم تفعلوا، فوالله الذي لا إله إلا هو لأسيرنَّ إليكم بقوم يحبون الموت كحبكم الحياة.

والسلام على من اتبع الهدى

In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

From Khalid ibn al-Walid to the Marzbans of Persia,

Peace be upon those who follow the guidance.

I praise Allah before you—the One besides whom there is no deity.

To proceed: Allah has shattered your power, divided your ranks, weakened your strength, and stripped you of your kingdom.

When this letter reaches you, send me hostages, accept my protection, and submit to the payment of the jizya.

If you refuse, then, by Allah, the One besides whom there is no deity, I shall march against you with a people who love death as you love life.

And peace be upon those who follow the guidance.
