The New Damage Mechanics

Starting September 1, 2026, the damage bonuses and penalties for alliances have drastically changed:

  • The Maximum Bonus is Doubled: The full damage bonus for fighting within your alliance has been increased from +10% to +20%. Furthermore, fighting for your own home country now also pays a flat +20% bonus.

  • The Size Limit is Shrinking: Alliances will only hold that maximum +20% bonus if their total world development share is at or below 10% (reduced from the previous 15% cap).

  • Harsh Penalties for Oversized Alliances: For every point of world development share an alliance holds above the 10% threshold, they now lose 4 points of their damage bonus (up from the previous 0.5 decay rate).

  • The Damage Malus (Floor): The absolute minimum damage modifier has been lowered from 0% to -20%.

What this means: Under the new system, an oversized alliance is no longer just "unrewarded"—it is actively punished. Massive alliances with over 20% of the world's core development (such as The Inglourious Basterds, B.E.E.R, and The Olive Union prior to the patch) will hit the absolute floor, meaning their soldiers will fight with a -20% damage penalty unless they break apart.

Redrawing the World Map

To allow the player base to adapt to these massive changes, the developers temporarily lifted the standard 7-day alliance cooldown until September 3, 2026.

During this window, countries could leave, be kicked, or disband their alliances without being blocked from immediately joining or founding a new one. This sparked a massive diplomatic scramble as giant alliances desperately split themselves into smaller factions to get back under the 10% threshold and secure the +20% damage bonus.
