The Government and people of Bangladesh π§π© express their deepest sorrow and profound sympathy following the devastating natural disaster that struck Nepal π³π΅ on 26 August 2026.
A catastrophic flash flood and landslide in Nepalβs Rasuwa district, near the NepalβTibet border, has caused extensive loss of life and widespread destruction of homes, roads, bridges and critical infrastructure. Dozens of lives have already been lost, while hundreds of people remain missing as search and rescue operations continue under extremely difficult conditions. The disaster is believed to have been associated with a major landslide and glacial collapse, possibly triggered by seismic activity.
On behalf of myself and the people of Bangladesh, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and express our solidarity with the people of Nepal during this extremely difficult time.
Bangladesh stands with Nepal and sincerely hopes that the ongoing rescue and relief efforts will bring survivors to safety and provide assistance to all those affected.
