Dearest Gentle Reader,
One might imagine that a dwindling populace would dampen the grand aspirations of our beloved nation. And yet—how deliciously contrary fate can be—it has done quite the reverse. The present administration, with remarkable swiftness (some might whisper haste), has sanctioned the forthcoming Congressional Election. As one aligned with the ruling party, this author has lent her approval. For surely, gentle reader, a fully seated Congress is no trifling ornament, but a necessity—particularly when more than two hundred spirited Filipinos yearn for progress, prestige, and a future befitting their ambition.
At present, twelve hopefuls contend for a coveted chair within our legislative chamber. “And why,” you may inquire with lifted brow, “does this author not join their ranks?” Ah, the truth is far less scandalous than one might hope. Responsibilities beyond this political theatre demand my attention most insistently. To pursue such an office without the devotion it properly deserves would be nothing short of disgraceful—and this author does so detest half-measures.
Among the aspirants are a few familiar figures—Bonchoms, Papafactboi, and Blank_—whose characters I have observed and with whom I have exchanged more than passing pleasantries. They have, thus far, proven themselves worthy of a cautious endorsement. But pray do not mistake acquaintance for blindness; this author’s scrutiny is impartial and unwavering. The remaining candidates shall find no refuge in obscurity, for I fully intend to draw them into the light—through pointed articles and an insistence that they lay bare their visions before us all.
So I implore you, esteemed reader of this fair country: choose with discernment. Be not swayed by the tired waltz of traditional politics nor by glittering promises unexamined. Study their plans. Weigh their temperaments. For rest assured—should they ascend to office—this author shall be watching still.
Yours in ink and intrigue,
Lady Seiryusly
