In Bosnia and Herzegovina lies Lukomir, the country's highest and most isolated village, perched over 1,400 meters above sea level. For centuries, its residents have lived largely cut off from the outside world, preserving an ancient way of life. They wear traditional hand-woven wool clothing and reside in stone houses topped with heavy wooden shingles built to withstand harsh weather. During winter, heavy snow completely blocks all access roads, totally isolating the village for months until the thaw—as if time stands completely still
