In the 1870s, the city of Liège, Belgium 🇧🇪 tried a very unusual system for delivering mail and official letters to homes... using cats!

The city "employed" 37 cats, attaching waterproof bags containing letters around their necks to deliver mail between neighboring villages and the city.

The Result:

Only one enthusiastic cat managed to deliver its letter in under 5 hours. The rest of the feline "mail carriers" preferred taking leisurely strolls, napping, or drinking milk, with some taking a full day to reach their destinations! The experiment was quickly canceled after authorities realized that cats simply don't care about work schedules. 🇧🇪
