In an interview with one Algerian resident, he told us that “the people were living in stability and peace until the government made a reckless decision to attempt to seize a small Spanish island.”
The operation failed and quickly escalated into a much larger conflict. Algeria suffered heavy losses and lost several territories during the war, triggering widespread public anger.
The crisis eventually led to the resignation of the Algerian president, leaving the country facing a major political transition.
Algeria is now preparing for new elections to choose a new president. The country enters this new chapter under enormous pressure, with citizens hoping that the next leadership can restore stability and rebuild what was lost.
