Banned from WarEra Discord After Asking for Ban Reason | Basic Hater Diary
Dear Readers,
Today, I woke up with a bit of a hangover after attending a concert yesterday, only to check if my support ticket regarding my Discord ban had finally been answered...
And guess what?
The second account I created is now banned as well. I intentionally refrained from using that account to chat in public channels.
But I was still banned again without a single answer, note, or notification.
Because this is a clear display of open censorship, a denial of any rules, and a lack of respect, I am going to take the time to share my history with this game. I want to explain how things got to this point and warn you all before a similar fate can hit another player.
From Day One: Building WarEra
It started more than two years ago when I was invited by https://app.warera.io/user/6813b754efecdf9bab194c8e to test a new browser game that had almost no players and only few mechanics in. At the time, my crew had been playing a different game and we had to decide where to focus our attention. After some time we chose to dedicate ourselves to WarEra to help Vatou alias https://app.warera.io/user/6813b758efecdf9bab195068, test the game. We brought years of experience from similar games to help him design something that would make the game better than the others and avoid their mistakes, because we believed that Vatou will be different.
Over time, we migrated more players from our gaming community https://app.warera.io/mu/687633b772c4886cc6fa3d56 and went through every stage of development. We were there when the core mechanics were introduced, and we significantly contributed to almost every feature implemented during the alpha and beta phases. Personally, I was one of the very first supporters of this project, regularly buying vatou's coffee before premium features were even built into the game.
Eventually, I became one of the first moderators after the beta version was launched. I served the community for about half a year, at the expense of my own crew and personal gameplay progress. While I surely wasn't the perfect admin, I worked honestly and tried to remain fair at every action.
But, I also voiced my opinions without fear. Years of watching similar gaming projects collapse made me confident in what I saw as the key pillars for WarEra’s long-term success:
No Pay-to-Win Features
We made this an absolute condition for our ongoing involvement. This is probably the only promise Vatou has actually kept, and it is currently the only reason my community and I are still here.
A Community-Based Game with Open Communication
Transparency in moderation, zero corruption, and the efficient use of player knowledge. I believed in keeping the administration and the community aligned to make WarEra succeed. A game of this type cannot survive without deep community trust and structural support.
No Mercy with Cheating
Cheating is the biggest threat to the game and honest communities. Because of this, I constantly pushed for the development of better staff tools and support to handle it, including strict punishments.
How I Failed
Unfortunately, I failed and the values are disappearing.
Because I fought for these principles and more frequently opposed vatou and his inner circle, I became person non-grata in this game.
First, I had to leave the moderation team after they stopped letting players publicly appeal their bans and report cheating. Today it is even worse, players get zero feedback when they report cheaters. To make it worse, they now hide the names of the moderators who give out punishments and allowing abuse.
Second, I left the Council twice. The first time was because I did not like how it became a "Circle Jerking Club", a place to agree with vatou’s ideas and let a few chosen players change the game to help themselves in the game. I rejoined later because vatou asked me to, but I left again after he insulted my work and called me a "Basic Hater", which I use for the name of my newspaper to today.
The Second Discord Ban
To this day, vatou cannot accept that I left his team and that I publicly criticize the game's issues. When I created the WarEra Ombudsman Discord, he joined it just to attack us. I realized he never wanted people to help making the game better, he wants people to loyally serve him.
He left the Discord shortly after. Few days later when the latest update was heavily downvoted, I was banned from the official discord Vatou and deleted his own in-game account and the patch notes. https://app.warera.io/article/6a2ab34df442a39ba511a1bf (Link)
The last message I sent was this:
A few days later, I joined the Discord with a second account just to open a ticket and ask why I was banned. I waited more than a week.
Here is exactly what I wrote in that ticket:

For how long you have been banned? No Idea
Why do you feel you were banned wrongly? Glad I found password to this discord account
"Seems like vatou exploded and banned me from discord, what exactly did I do?"
15.06.2026 > "Back from weekend trip, and still no answer."
19.06.2026 > ":birthday: One-week anniversary."
They never answered and today, I found out that this second account was banned too. I lost access to not only the community and game information but also access to unfinished tickets like the Ticket 0219, which remains unanswered for more than 5 months.
What's Next?
I know that the owner can ignore the rules, and it is vatou’s legal right to decide who plays his game. But I wanted to share this story before you make the same mistake as me and experience the same destiny.
I am not leaving my team or this community just because the owner wants me gone. I am here to support the players and improve the game. It is sad to see how far the insecurity has changed WarEra, but my options to change it are disappearing, suggestions in discord are ignored, articles are ignored, surveys are ignored, the complaints are being censored, and the whole community effort is disrespected.
Still, I will stay with the players until I am completely removed from the game itself.
