"How are you?"

One of the most common questions we ask.

And one of the most common answers?

"I'm fine."

But sometimes, that answer hides more than we realize.

June, Men's Mental health awareness month.

From a very young age, boys are taught to "be strong," "man up," or "deal with it." Resilience is important, but these words can sometimes create the belief that expressing emotions is a sign of weakness. As a result, countless men learn to hide their stress, anxiety, loneliness, and emotional pain behind a smile.

But sometimes, beneath that smile is exhaustion. Beneath the laughter is loneliness. Beneath the words "I'm okay" is a person carrying far more emotions than anyone can realize.

Being human means feeling overwhelmed sometimes. It means having bad days, doubts, fears, and moments when the weight of everything becomes too much to carry alone.

As a human we're meant feel these emotions, whether joy or sadness, exhaustion or excitement.

The truth is, some of the strongest people are the ones who keep going despite the struggles. But this strength should not mean suffering in silence.

This month, let's take a moment to check upon the men in your life. Your father, your brother, your partner/husband, best friend or anyone. Ask how they're doing and genuinely listen to them. A simple conversation may not solve things, but it can remind someone that they are heard, and valued.

And if you're a man reading this and you're struggling, know this, YOU DO NOT have to carry every burden by yourself. Crying or expressing your emotions, and reaching out for support does not make you are weak. It makes you brave.

Mental health matters. Your feelings matter. Your story matters.

And most importantly, YOU MATTER 🌸
