Bosnian Civil War Already Forgotten | Basic Hater Diary is Back

I'm back. After a month of silence, the Basic Hater Diary returns with articles that I owe to the community and to the players who reported their issues to the WarEra Ombudsman Community. (https://app.warera.io/article/6a25f824b4b436fd07ea408d).

The https://app.warera.io/battle/6a4253c5a5e7c084e20cd1d8 in https://app.warera.io/country/6813b6d446e731854c7ac80e showed once again how poorly development and communication with the community are being handled. The Civil War mechanic is simply bugged, both in its initial design and in its technical implementation.

Firstly, the linear scaling of the required unrest makes no sense when the government can accept citizens without any limits, completely destroying an opposition that invests its energy, health, and resources into building up the resistance. Solutions exist and are easy to implement, but this is not the place to present them—offering them only meets with ignorance, so I will save my time.

Secondly, absolute laziness in the implementation of the mechanic created a completely imbalanced battlefield. For one, it applies the Bunker bonus since the battle takes place in the country's capital. Furthermore, the government can issue bounties and secure the battle using state funds that were raised in part from the opposing citizens themselves.

Not even hoarding supplies for months would give resisting forces any chance to win. This way, the game loses not only its credibility, but also its players.

Mistakes happen, but...

One could say that these mistakes happen, which I completely agree with, but people also expect mistakes to be fixed. That is not the case here; in fact, it's even worse. When the affected players pointed this issue out to moderation, they were ignored, disrespected, and shut down. This style of moderation is not an isolated incident in WarEra and continues to drive massive dissatisfaction with the team (57% dissatisfaction according to our previous survey https://app.warera.io/article/6a349b35ce134b9db4f83b2c).

How did the community react?

Even more shamefully, the community that benefited from this bug intentionally downvoted the article pointing out the issue. That article wasn't aggressive at all and didn't mention any personal beef between the involved groups, it simply informed players about the unfair mechanic design, yet it was still heavily attacked.

Unsurprisingly, the president of that community is a moderator, and that conflict of interest is noticeable far beyond just this single case.
