Iran won its rematch against Poland in one of the day's largest battles

Iran defeated Poland 364.7 million to 343.8 million, the day's biggest confirmed battle, in a rivalry that shows no sign of settling. Guatemala had a dominant day too, beating Russia twice (1.0M to 199K, then 1.6M to 476K) and the United States once more (16.2M to 9.1M) — all before a dramatic diplomatic turn in the evening (see Diplomacy).

Turkiye had a rough 24 hours, losing twice — first to Romania (54.6M to 62.4M) and then to Ukraine (74.0M to 81.1M) — while Romania capped off a strong day by also beating Bulgaria (49.8M to 41.0M). Serbia lost to Bulgaria in a big battle (35.9M to 40.4M) but bounced back hours later with a win over Croatia. South Korea beat Japan again (38.9M to 22.8M), extending its unbeaten run against its neighbor, and DR Congo beat Angola for a second time (19.8M to 11.6M).

Two large battles remain active heading into tomorrow: Russia vs Lithuania (197.8 million live damage, with Latvia and Belgium leading Lithuania's defense) and South Africa vs Namibia (123.9 million, with Namibia's loss risking the isolation of a critical region).

Guatemala broke with Iran and declared war within the hour

In the day's sharpest pivot, Guatemala broke its defensive pact with Iran and declared war on it within the same hour, late in the evening — a sudden turn after a day that also saw Guatemala sign a fresh pact with Brazil.

Uganda elected a new president, julian_romelo, the only leadership change of the day. Libya joined The Inglourious Basterds alliance, adding a new name to one side of the game's biggest ongoing rivalry.

Elsewhere, peace was made between Guatemala and Guinea-Bissau, Tunisia and Germany, Iran and Congo, and Egypt and Ghana. The Netherlands broke its pact with Greenland, and the Philippines and Guinea-Bissau also went their separate ways. Several smaller pacts were signed throughout the day, including the US-Morocco, Lithuania-Italy, and Bangladesh-Pakistan.

Poland's steady support continued, and region trades are now fully tracked

Poland kept receiving small but frequent aid — South Africa, Morocco, Greenland, Latvia (twice), Italy, and Belgium all sent funds today. Slovenia had a quieter but notable inflow too, from Croatia, Italy, and Turkiye (twice).

We can now confirm three region trades in full: India sold a region to China for 1, East Timor sold one to the Philippines for 6.7, and Niger sold the Benue and Taraba region to Burkina Faso for 1 — a region originally part of Nigeria before changing hands. None of the three were capital regions, and none carried a strategic resource.

It was also one of the busiest days yet for resource prospecting, with over 30 new deposits discovered across the map.

Yemen held the top spot, and we now have a full item-by-item breakdown

Yemen remained #1 at 61.5% (limestone), followed by India at 60.75% (iron) and DR Congo at 60% (also iron). Serbia (55.5%, steel) and Burkina Faso (50.5%, light ammo) rounded out the top five.

For the first time, we have a complete picture of the best country for every tradeable item on the market:

For workers, Yemen and India again offered the strongest overall earning potential, helped by India's especially low 4% income tax.

EXTRA

The Military Unit rankings reshuffled significantly this week: Ultima Ratio took the top spot at 78.9 million weekly damage, ahead of SPECTRE (73.0M) and Knights Hospitaller (65.1M) — all three previous leaders from earlier in the week have been overtaken.

Kenya got a new Vice-President, Valseryn — the only government change tracked today. Serbia and Libya remain tied atop the all-time ban rankings at 15 each, with multi-accounting still by far the most common offense (118 confirmed cases).

Community press: the day's most-read piece was Stoltverd's critique of IP-based multi-account detection (327 views, 33 likes) — a topic with obvious relevance given today's moderation numbers. Soldier-Boy's "India Opens Its Doors to the World's Iron Industry" (economy) ties in neatly with India's #2 production ranking this week. Sunnybunny's farewell piece "Adios Deutschland" (178 views) also drew significant attention.
