Canibalism in Lithuania? Promise I made in Global chat.

VILTISJuly 15, 2026entertainment

Yesterday in Global chat, I was challenged to write about cannibalism in Lithuania.

As all my other articles were written in a positive tone. This one is gonna be straight facts, no jokes. So if You are looking for my usual jokes, you can skip this article

Lithuania was never the land of cannibalism rituals. The country was plagued by absolute starvation during certain periods of their history.

War triggered the horror of famine. The scorched earth that was created during the Livonian War and the Great Northern War left the land without any food to eat.

Parents ate their children. Between 1314 and 1571, records existed of parents that were forced to eat their starving children to survive and vice verse. [Imagine being so desperate, you have to eat your dead or sometimes even alive relative.]

Sensationalized by the West. The West published graphic woodcuts of the suffering of Lithuania, mixing the real tragedy of the Lithuanians with sensational propaganda.[Nice, good job West, people are so hungry they eat their fanily members and you write propoganda! That makes you an asshole. Easy!]

Hannibal Lecter is fake. Lithuania's most famous cannibal is a fictional character created by an American novelist. [I did not know this! Never read the book, I might read it now!]

Rare crimes. These rare cases of humans performing cannibalism are very rare and are often considered to be severe cases of mental illness or even murder. [The newest crime happened in 2011. Two teenagers killed their classmate, cut her into parts, stored body parts in the fridge, consumed some flesh. They were recently released from jail. One killed herself.]

Before you start screaming, trust me, the hunger you feel for not eating half a day is not what they had to suffer.

This is my 6 th. Day and 6 th. Article.

I hope you like the read.
