Case Prices Are Rising Rapidly - Caseflation

IvanTheTerribleSeptember 2, 2026economy

Case prices have skyrocketed over the past few weeks, and I believe they will continue to rise.

At this rate, cases will have a stronger economy than half the countries in War Era.

There are several reasons for this:

1. Milestones

Players now receive XP for opening a certain number of cases. This created additional demand and appears to be one of the main reasons behind the latest price jump after the update.

Apparently, opening cases wasn't addictive enough, so now we get XP for doing it too. Don't let me start on new animation.

More players want to open cases, fewer want to sell them, and the market has reacted accordingly.

2. Changes to Daily Missions

Until a few months ago, the daily mission required players to open only 1 case. Later, that increased to 2 cases, and after the latest update, players may now need to open 3 cases in a single day.

At this rate, next update's mission will probably be "Open 17 cases and declare bankruptcy."

This is especially important for eco players. Many of them previously sold their cases, but now they may need to buy additional cases just to complete their daily missions.

3. Monthly Missions

Many players have also received a monthly mission requiring them to open 40 cases.

Yes, forty.

Players who want to complete this mission will probably keep the cases they earn instead of selling them. Most will also have to buy additional cases from the market.

A player sitting at 37/40 near the end of the month probably isn't going to say, "Well, I guess I won't finish it." They're going straight to the market and paying whatever the case merchants demand.

Once again, this creates two effects at the same time: demand increases while supply decreases.

Economics 101: except the textbook didn't prepare us for loot boxes.

My Prediction

Because of these changes, I believe case prices will continue climbing.

I believe cases will reach more than 4 gold before the end of the month.

Of course, the market can always change, and this article may age terribly. If cases crash tomorrow, please pretend you never read it.

Please tip so I can buy cases before this article convinces everyone else to buy them first.
