Dear Vatou, your rules suck!

Dear https://app.warera.io/user/6813b758efecdf9bab195068,

As I was getting ready to head out for New Year's Eve, I decided to quickly log into WarEra to see if there were any enticing deals to be found. This has become a bit of a ritual for me; since I haven’t yet left being eco, I like to browse the market, always on the lookout for a bargain that might keep things interesting. But this time, I was caught off guard by an unexpected warning.

You have been fined 28 coins. Reason: Giveaway, intentional or not, are not allowed. The real cost of the items purchased from [REDACTED] has been removed. If you have any questions about the calculations, please open a ticket.

So, I decided to open a ticket. Admittedly, I was offended at being accused of breaking the rules, and my initial response was rather rude—I’d like to apologise for that. I was simply trying to make sense of the decision. When I read through the rules, I was genuinely surprised to find no mention whatsoever of giveaways. In fact, taking the time to properly review the rules for the first time, I couldn’t help but laugh at how poorly written they are.

I’m by no means a legal expert—nor do I expect you are, Vatou. However, as developers, both you and I understand the importance of well-defined requirements. We know that effective rules/requirements should follow the SMART framework: they must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Testable.

So, dear Vatou, let’s see some examples that surprise me?

(…)- Repeatedly tipping articles (…)

What is repeatedly? The last 3 articles of a player are of the “Begging” category? How can a plater reading this rule understand when is crossing the line?

(…) Repeated donations of resources or money to a military unit or country. (…)

Again…when is a player crossing a line? And is this rule being verified? I see a lot of examples of this being done and nothing. Is the money of the [REDACTED] player being removed from the account of the country that he donated?

(…) Using outside market standards or manipulated trade prices (…)

Again… is this being ignored? Because the inflation of the last days was a flagrant market manipulation from some countries and some players. There was a player buying the all the stock available from one product and I see no consequences for that.

And then, let’s go back to my issue. When do I know that a cheap item is a good deal or a deal that can I award me with another warning and fine. Why is there no price validation from the game to avoid players boosting or doing giveaways -whoever that is.

Vatou, I know I've probably rambled a bit here, but I truly want to make sure my message comes across with care. All I’m really asking is for you and your moderators to consider putting together some clear, accessible documentation about the game’s rules. It would mean a lot—not only to me, but to everyone who plays—if we could all understand what’s expected without the worry of stumbling into an unclear or hidden rule. If the rules are laid out in a way that’s specific, measurable, and relevant, as the SMART framework suggests, I believe it would make the whole experience fairer and more enjoyable for everyone.

Until then, I will remember you of the best day of your life.

Happy New Year.

Cobra.

PS: Can I have https://app.warera.io/user/68853c4d6a3ec4d6015d4aa4 address? I want to send him a love letter. What a stud of a man he is.

EDIT1: I apologize for the use of AI. Merely done to fix errors and improve certain parts. I also want to make clear that I do not care for the 28 btc. It stings but it is only a small dent. I only want to start a conversation regarding rules.

EDIT2: Removed the joke. Don't want to make this article about that. If that offend you, I'm sorry. But if you make regularly begging articles, then it would benefit you to know if you are crossing an invisible line.
