Greetings Citizens,
I have had the esteemed pleasure of leading the Irish nation over the last month alongside my Cabinet & Vice President, and I have come to seek your vote for round 2.
I'm going to try keep this short and sweet, listing some things that happened over the course of my watch, and then listing some ideas I like and would be keen to implement should I be elected for term 2.
Over the course of my term:
The core Emerald Isle remained emerald, with no invasions on our soil.
We've become the richest we've ever gotten, partially due to players nuking themselves due to boredom, mostly because of generous donations from the public, but also because MoE Adro has been smart with the money.
We successfully annoyed Iraq with our moves in Kuwait, most of that credit goes to Kyle and Tuath na Tdonnta though.
We made the decision to leave the former B.E.E.R alliance and carve our own path forward as a primarily freedom fighting focused nation.
We helped play a part in the freeing of Uzbekistan at their request following our departure from BEER.
We signed NAP or DPs with some immediate neighbours including Portugal, Greenland & The United States securing our borders.
We founded The Emerald Accord, an alliance led by Ireland with the goal of joining up with some smaller nations to fight for peace globally.
We implemented the 'Medals' system in the discord, allowing Gov to create medals and award them to citizens for various accomplishments.
Overall it was a fairly quiet and peaceful month. Some will be happy with this, and others would like to see a bit more action which is fair.
Now onto things I'd like to do going forward now that I've had some experience at the seat:
Both my opponents have mentioned this, but I do like an Irish history channel idea in our discord. I visited Myanmar's while discussing The Emerald Accord and they had a channel giving the full backstory of their nation. I think ours would make for a good read.
I plan to keep playing with the medals bot and expanding the 'fun' component such as the farm animals and loot crates. I'll do this even if I lose though tbh.
I plan to keep working on the initial vision for the Emerald Accord, with smaller nations and fighting freedom, rather than dismantling it or joining another alliance.
I'd like to keep trying to keep the average citizen involved in the goings of the nation, with opinion polls, referendums for big decisions, and generally being available to them if they have comments or questions.
I plan to continue to work with MoE Adro to try work out some form of deal for the north of Ireland. Geopolitics has scuffed this, it's not for a lack of trying on both ends.
I pledge to continue to advocate for the path of peace and prosperity over warfighting. However my main pledge is to listen to the public; if Congress votes a direction I don't like on behalf of the people, I am duty bound to listen. I want to keep Ireland safe, but I will understand if the people have grown tired of it.
I don't have much more to promise at this time honestly. I don't have grand schemes, I just try to pick the rational answer when a situation develops.
I wish my opponents Revan, Fatican & Kyle the best of luck, I like a good few of your individual policies, and I am interested to see what direction the nation takes.
