Danish countrymen stand along the shores of the Kattegat, looking toward the Nordic lands and wondering why Denmark is at war with its Nordic neighbors? Those who share the strongest cultural identity with the Danes.

Many new Danes awoke in WarEra to find Germany occupying their country. Their resentment toward the Germans and their allies may therefore be understandable. But without knowing the history, the early occupations and wars, it becomes easy to fall for the wrong propaganda. Germany is not the enemy. Sweden is not the enemy.
For a long time, the Nordic countries have extended a hand to their Danish brothers and sisters. The vision has been a united and strong Nordic region, together with allies who also strive for stability and sovereignty.
Instead, the Danes have turned toward the occupying powers, believing it to be a struggle for freedom. That view is both ahistorical and part of a narrative designed to turn Danes against their neighbors. So when Swedes, Germans, and even Norwegians ask Danes to reclaim their country, it is about restoring control over a Denmark no longer governed by the will or propaganda of others.
The Öresund/Øresund Bridge is still there. A tunnel, a bridge, a symbol of the unity between Denmark and the Nordic region. It is that unity we strive to preserve.
Every Dane needs to ask themselves: friend or foe - who exactly am I shooting at?
