Do Players From Different Countries View Cases Differently?

After spending a month watching the War Era marketplace, reading player comments, and discussing strategy with people from different regions, I started noticing something interesting:

Not everyone approaches cases the same way.

Some players treat cases as a pure investment. Others see them as entertainment. And some seem perfectly happy chasing a jackpot even when the odds clearly aren't in their favor.

This made me curious:

Do players from different countries have different attitudes toward gambling, risk, and case opening?

My Observation

This is not a scientific study. It is simply an observation based on community discussions, player profiles, marketplace activity, and conversations with other players.

As someone from the Balkans, I have the impression that many players from our region enjoy opening cases even when selling them might be the more profitable decision. The thrill of hitting a Rare, Epic, Legendary, or Mythic item often seems more important than maximizing expected value.

Of course, that could simply be my own bias from interacting with players from similar backgrounds.

That's why I'm interested in hearing from the rest of the community.

The Two Types of Players

From what I've seen, most players seem to fall somewhere between these two categories:

The Investor

These players care primarily about the numbers.

If selling a case guarantees more value than opening it, they sell.

If the expected value favors opening, they open.

Their decisions are driven by long-term profit and efficiency.

The Gambler

These players understand the odds but enjoy the excitement of opening cases regardless.

For them, the possibility of a huge hit is worth the risk, even when the math isn't on their side.

The entertainment itself has value.

Why Cases Remain Popular

What's interesting is that cases continue to be opened in large numbers even during periods when market prices make selling the safer option.

The reason is simple:

Humans are not calculators.

Opening a case creates anticipation, excitement, and the possibility of a massive reward. Selling a case may be the optimal financial decision, but it rarely produces the same feeling.

That excitement is what keeps people opening boxes.

A Question for the Community

War Era has players from all over the world, and I'm especially interested in hearing from the countries that make up the game's largest active player bases.

  • Which country are you from?

  • Do players in your region generally prefer opening cases or selling them?

  • How important is the thrill compared to guaranteed profit?

  • Do people around you treat case opening as an investment, entertainment, or outright gambling?

  • Have you noticed any cultural differences between players from different countries?

I'm particularly curious whether my impression about Balkan players is accurate and how it compares to the rest of the world.

Let me know your country and your experience in the comments.
