Hi everyone, today I want to talk about the mechanics of Contracts in the game.
Contracts in this game are a fairly simple mechanic. A State publishes a contract for a CERTAIN amount of currency and a CERTAIN amount of Damage. These can be public contracts or contracts specifically dedicated to PRO MUs (Military Units). The method for acquiring a contract is through a reverse auction—a good mechanism that allows multiple MUs to compete for it.
So, where is the problem? Well, all contracts are already pre-booked, and most of them are put up by prior arrangement.
Personally, I recently found out that some countries don't really like me because I happened to outbid them on a few contracts. Why should I feel guilty? Why should I be contacted in private chat just to be called an asshole, or to be told that the contract was meant for them? What is the point of these "public" contracts if they aren't actually public? Why does an MU that is just starting to get into the war module and wants to gain experience with contracts have to constantly walk on eggshells regarding which contracts they can bid on?
A Minister of Defense from one country even threatened to block me from taking any more contracts for their nation, lol.
States gain nothing from who accepts the contract. When contracts are opened to everyone, why favor one MU over another if both have the same firepower?
What I am telling you is this: change your vision of Contracts. If contracts are made public, there is a reason for it. Leave the competition to us MU Commanders, stop this favoritism, and be fair.
Alternatively, here is a message for the Developers: give us a way to assign a title to contracts, so at least we know who that contract is meant for. For example: "Contract for WipeGermanyMU".
