Something small I learned today that other new players might miss, before you log off, check your Energy and Entrepreneurship.
Both regenerate over time, but once they reach their maximum, you aren't getting any more value from that regeneration.
So if you're going to sleep or you know you won't be online for several hours, leaving them full isn't always the best idea.
If you have Energy available, see if you can use it for work or If you have entrepreneurship and a company, you may be able to use it there before leaving.
Then while you're offline, those stats can regenerate again, It's a really simple thing, but when you're starting with almost nothing, getting a little more value out of the time you're offline actually matters.
I've started checking this before I leave the game, might save you from wasting a few hours of regeneration too.
