Well, well, well... looks like that little newbie who started reading would actually make it alive and kicking to this guide https://app.warera.io/article/6a6c60e6f1f4d376ca06cbfe and begin the last class before turning into a destruction machine. It has been a tough road, full of crunching numbers, upgrading companies, and boredom; I know you've joined a few battles here and there, but now THE MOMENT has arrived.
There are endless free websites, but there are two in particular that I really like. In fact, you can complement them to confirm the numbers and avoid risks.

I use another one, but I won't put it here for reasons that aren't relevant now XD, but with those two above, we manage just fine.
I assume you didn't get here to make some weird loser mix build and that you want to be a FUCKING DAMAGE BEAST, so we are going to focus on adding damage to climb the TOP ranks. If what you want is profitability, this is not the place for you...
...
Well, let's not get too pessimistic either. We are going to look to maximize damage, covering costs and trying to make a few coins as well.
The first build
We enter the first website and import our profile WITHOUT checking the two checkboxes there.
Once done, we will find something like this:

We will double-check that the level, prestige, and military rank are correct.
You must calculate the "battle bonus %" based on the average you usually hit with. If you are a mercenary, you should set it to 65%. If your country tends to help allies, start revolts, or defend, you'll need to set the bonus you have in most battles.
We set the "target net cost/K" manually for the bounty you usually have. If you usually hit at €0.05, we put that; if you are a mercenary, put at least €0.1. With this, we want to calculate a build as fine-tuned as possible for all the battles we are going to fight.
Two important things:
COST FACTORS: Single battle or Average. I favor calculating it for average, since during the day we might switch battles and not just focus on a single one.
COMPANIES: we do not check that box, but we review that all of them are set correctly.
Once those two pieces of data are ready, we check that the pill is selected and the combat hours are set to 8 (because we are going to hit with a pill, for the rest of the day we'll have erectile dysfunction).
We click on "SOLDIER" and... time to optimize!!!!
We are going to get many options, which we can view as "Cards" or a "Table". Either way, we are going to look for the build for the bounty we chose as the most frequent. You'll see that there will be calculations for €0.09 and sometimes for €0.012. In my case, I'm going to work with €0.1, which is round and more common for me. There will be mercenaries who take contracts averaging €0.15 and others €0.07 (to each their own).

Forget about the items shown for now, and focus on the skills. Those are the ones we are going to pick from now on. Depending on your level, it might be worth calculating talents for the next level or the current one. Keep in mind that the reset CD is 7 days, so if you are leveling up tomorrow, it's better to calculate the build for that next level.
By the way, I prefer to do the resets on Sunday night. That way, weekly missions update based on my skills, and I have the whole week to build up damage and get weekly crates.
Fine-tuning the build to the bounty
Once we have calculated our skills and equipped them, we'll need to calculate the damage we can deal daily and what items we will need. So we will repeat the first step, but with a few changes.
Keep in mind that these pages calculate data based on the current state of the market. The build we are going to calculate will be very tight, and if we don't have updated data, we might lose money. Bookmark these pages and get used to checking them daily.

Using the first site, we load our profile and now WE DO SELECT the "pin current skills" option, leaving the other one UNCHECKED.
We review that level, military bonus, and battle bonus are correct. Companies should be unchecked, but updated (if you have an active one, set the one that gives you the highest yield). Take a quick look to make sure skills are right, the pill is active, and combat hours are set to 8.
We will set the bounty (target net cost/K) based on what we have today. If there is an agreed contract at €0.15, we'll put that figure. If we want to offer our damage for a contract, we can set it to auto and see the different damage output for each price. That piece of data is extremely important to keep controlled and adjusted, as our profitability will depend on it.
We click on "SOLDIER" and we are almost there.
The items
We are in luck! Today we managed to pick up a €0.15 contract and we have free reign to spend all the damage we want. So we are going to pick the build for this figure and stop to look at a few things:

In total, we will deal 753.3k damage overall with the items below for that contract. We now know we can't offer 900k of damage.
The 112.07 is the cost we will make. You can check it by adding and subtracting the figures below.
The 451.52 gear represents the cost we will assume by buying all the necessary items for that damage, and the 75.58 consumables adds up food and ammo.
107.79 selling (scrap), 97.37 (crates) is calculated assuming we are going to sell ALL the scrap and crates we win in battle. This is important because everything is factored in to cover the cost.
IMPORTANT: the 108.68 estimated loot rewards, as this is where most people fail and lose profitability. This means that by the end of the day, we must have earned items worth that amount. The items obtained in battle are supposed to be sold (for profitability). We'll decide whether to keep them (because we can use them) or sell them.
As a general rule, 2 purple items go for around €50. Therefore, if we secure two purples in a round and battle, we will have achieved profitability. The trick here is that higher levels and damage mean higher item requirements. A level 50 player might need to guarantee a mythic item (if not several) and legendaries.
This last point ties into an important part covered in this guide regarding contracts: https://app.warera.io/article/6ac783d06b66d7ff599b1439
It is necessary to keep in mind the items we need (and our soldiers need, if you lead a MU) in order to close contracts. Maybe some soldiers need to be sent in R1 to secure round and battle items for them, while you send another battalion in R2, needing to pick up another contract in a different battle if there are people left to unload.
If, as a soldier, you have already secured the items and still have leftover damage, you can choose to push further to get a better (and more expensive) item, or wait for another round to secure a third item. That's the fun of damage output and maximizing return.
It is also very important to keep in mind that this is calculated to ALWAYS hit at €0.15. If the contract has ended and you haven't secured your items, you might have to hit without a bounty, and at that point you must calculate whether it is profitable to do so or not.
To wrap up, let's analyze this:
Here we see that for this damage, we will need 2 snipers and 0.63 sets with those specific items. Sometimes we'll need 2.3 sets or whatever it takes. Also 157 green bullets and 6 beef steaks.

I am not in favor of buying everything all at once because we might start hitting in a battle at €0.1, not burn through everything, have the contract end (or get canceled), and then move to a battle at €0.2 or €0.05... therefore, I prefer buying a whole set (and bullets) to start hitting. If we switch battles, I recalculate the items and hold onto those.
Don't be afraid to leave items at 32% durability and buy another one. You'll surely end up reusing many of them in the future.
I know I mentioned a second website and we hadn't talked about it yet. Well, here we go. This is for those who want to be 100% professional:
Once we have our build calculated and know the damage we can deal, we go into the second website and enter all our data (no screenshots here).
On the right, we can calculate our burst with three options (including average).
Burst is our explosive damage. Being at 100% health and hunger, it's the total damage we can output by blowing it all at once. Then there will be the sustained damage over the 8 hours of pill regenerations.
Knowing your burst and sustained damage is very important in case we want to grab a contract with 10 minutes left in a battle or round, to know if we can urgently close an existing contract, etc. Just as knowing the damage we can deal during the following 8 hours of the pill helps analyze whether it's worth hitting in another battle to get a good item.
A MU Commander should know the burst and sustained damage of their entire MU on a daily basis to be as knowledgeable as possible, offer good conditions to countries, and/or know whether a contract is beneficial or not.
