Following up on yesterday's post, here are some more expressions from our day to day life.
It was very cool to learn that we actually share one of our most common one with the french!
Caiu a ficha = Drop the token/plug (When you realize something or finally understand something)
É mais peixe que areia = It's more fish than sand (To indicate abundance of something)
Encher chouriços = Filling up chouriços/sausages (When you are wasting time on purpose)
Rés-vés Campo de Ourique = Flat-flat Ourique field (When you got really close to achieve something, or something was really close to happening)
Não é pêra doce = It's not sweet pear (When something or someone isn't nice or pleasant)
Em tempo de guerra, qualquer buraco é trincheira = In times of war any hole is a trench (Usually used when someone is on a dry spell and will have sex with anything that moves)
Um olho no burro, outro no cigano = One eye in the dunkey, another in the gipsy (When you are keeping an eye out for two potential problems)
I could make this list go on and on and on, but i think its nicer to go at it slower so everyone can digest properly just a few cool sayings we use. Also totally not a way to get more engagement ;)
