Why I Would Continue to Serve Israel Well as Defense Minister
My name is Mattityahu Ben Zeev, and I currently serve as the Minister of Defense of the State of Israel. I am still a relatively new citizen of Israel, but in the time I have been here, I have taken every responsibility seriously. I served one term in Congress, and after the most recent presidential election, I was asked by the new President to step into the role of Defense Minister. It has been an honor to serve in that position.
Serving as Defense Minister has been one of the most meaningful parts of my experience in the War Era so far. While I am still learning many of the game’s mechanics, this role has given me a strong sense of purpose. I have genuinely enjoyed helping protect Israel, coordinating defense efforts, and working closely with leadership to keep our nation secure.
During my time as Defense Minister, Israel participated in a war and emerged victorious. That experience reinforced for me the importance of preparation, communication, and teamwork. Defense is not just about fighting; it is about planning, understanding risks, and making careful decisions that protect the nation and its citizens.
One of my strengths is that I do not treat this position as a title, but as a responsibility. Israel’s defense affects every citizen, every alliance, and every diplomatic relationship we hold. I approach this role with patience and humility. I ask questions, learn from experienced players, and study outcomes rather than assuming I already have all the answers.
I am honest about the fact that I still have much to learn about economics, politics, and military strategy. I see that as an advantage. Being new keeps me open-minded and willing to adapt. I listen to advice, learn from mistakes, and focus on improving rather than protecting my ego.
In both Congress and as Defense Minister, I have valued cooperation over unnecessary conflict. A strong defense is not measured only by armies and weapons, but by restraint and judgment. Knowing when not to fight can be just as important as knowing how to fight. I believe Israel is strongest when its defense strategy supports long-term stability rather than short-term gains.
I care deeply about Israel’s future in this game. I have truly enjoyed serving as Defense Minister because it allows me to contribute to something larger than myself. I look forward to continuing to serve at the pleasure of the President of Israel and to growing further in this role.
I hope future presidential candidates will consider keeping me as Defense Minister. I will continue to bring dedication, humility, and steady leadership to Israel’s defense, while always striving to learn and improve.
