After almost a year of playing War Era, I’m done.
I’ve supported this game through subscriptions, updates, controversies, and everything in between. I’ve been here long enough to consider myself a veteran player, which is exactly why I didn’t want to leave over something trivial.
But the moderation has become the breaking point.
We’ve seen hate and racism tolerated in situations where the rules should clearly apply, while other subjects receive immediate attention. Then my post criticizing that double standard was removed....which, ironically, made the point better than the article ever could.
I’ve spent a year supporting this game. I just don’t see a reason to keep doing so when the rules apparently depend on what you’re saying and who you’re saying it about.
Anyone in any community should be willing to stand up for the values they believe in.
I believe in freedom of speech. I believe people should be able to criticize, disagree, and challenge each other without the rules being selectively applied depending on who is speaking or what they are speaking about.
But there is no meaningful commitment to free expression when a satire article is removed within two minutes, dozens of people are banned in a single day, while other forms of hate are left completely untouched almost as if they are somehow sacred and beyond moderation.
That’s the double standard I can’t support.
Fuck the double standards. I’m out.
