Finnish authorities have strongly condemned what they describe as ongoing intimidation and interference by Dutch diplomats in Finland’s domestic politics and neutrality.
According to the statement, Finland “cannot under any circumstances accept such threats,” adding that Dutch threats of war – or any act of war itself – would be in clear violation of international law. Finland emphasized that the international community “cannot stand idly by,” and called on other states to explicitly condemn the actions of the Netherlands.
The Finnish side stressed that it has at no point threatened any other sovereign state, and reiterated its commitment to international norms and peaceful coexistence.
Finland acknowledges that, alone, it is powerless against an overwhelmingly superior enemy, yet declares it will not submit.
In the event of an attack or occupation by the Netherlands, Finland vows to resist with all available means and to fight for every inch of its territory.
Should Finnish soil be invaded, the government warns that any occupation would be met with unending guerrilla warfare, and that Finland’s determination to defend the Maiden of Finland will not be broken.
