Hey hey hey my mates, long time no see!
RL kept being such a bitch I needed some time off publishing music articles, BUT! Due to a nice holiday time I try to keep my pace.
Soooo there is here a nice suggestion for this hot as fuck summer.
Directly from Sicily, ladies and gentleman, I present you MARCO CASTELLO.
And, unlike the previous issue, this time I present you THE WHOLE GODDAMN ALBUM.
If you're looking for something a little different from the usual indie or rock records, I'd like to recommend Pezzi della Sera.
Hailing from Sicily, Castello blends jazz, funk, vintage Italian songwriting and a touch of soul into a sound that feels both nostalgic and completely fresh.
His music never tries too hard to impress; instead, it draws you in with understated arrangements, warm grooves and melodies that linger long after the songs are over. Somehow in a Belle-and-Sebastian way
There's a relaxed, almost sun-soaked atmosphere throughout, but beneath the easy listening there's plenty of clever songwriting and musical detail.
One of the highlights is Pipì, a song that perfectly captures Castello's approach. What could have been just a joke becomes a strangely elegant and catchy tune, balancing humor with sophistication.
It's a reminder that great songwriting doesn't always need grand themes—sometimes the smallest, most mundane things can become unforgettable in the right hands.
The rest of the album is filled with the same effortless charm.
Tight grooves, tasteful horns, soft keyboards and subtle guitar lines create a sound that owes as much to 1970s jazz-pop as it does to classic Italian singer-songwriters, yet it never feels like a simple throwback.
Marco Castello has a distinctive voice, both literally and artistically, and every track carries his unmistakable personality.
If you've never listened to Marco Castello before, Pezzi della Sera is an excellent place to start. It's the kind of album that grows on you with every listen: warm, witty, beautifully crafted and perfect for a quiet evening—or perhaps while farming contracts in WarEra.
Enjoy the music and staaaay chooooned!
