At the time of my election, France was facing a particularly critical situation. Our nation was confronted with a severe shortage of men willing to join the battlefield, while the consequences of the devastation caused by the German ogre the previous month had deeply weakened our infrastructure and economy.
From the very first day of my mandate, my government undertook ambitious and determined measures.
