On Monday, August 26th Jinx succeeded Hazzard in an uncontested election for president.
Pestie, minister of defense welcomed the new president with a festival stating: "There will be abundance of ripe meat, exotic wine and even a lot of mysterious plant!". The 'Mysterious Plant' mentioned remains an ongoing topic of speculation within Iceland's agricultural community.
Following only four days after the election of president the following congress members were elected:
Jinx (36.36% of votes)
Torrento_Tosell (18.18%)
Hazzard (9.09%)
wormier (9.09%)
Hrafn (9.09%)
Shortly after election of the new Congress, Congress representative and President Jinx was quoted as saying "I will start ww3, thanks for the encouragement" which was met with high praise from the population.
These elections come at a time when Iceland is still in an ongoing 'cool' war with Iran, no clear decisive battles have yet been won on either side despite the official declaration of war more than 2 months ago from the quarrelsome middle eastern country. Our island nation continues to brace for their attack to finally arrive. Iran is at war with a total of 62 nations - so it stands to reason they have quite a lot of other countries to deal with before they finally make the swim over.
On the home front, fishing boats around Fáskrúðsfjarðarhöfn in Eastern Iceland are reporting a strong season. With fishing being one of Iceland's primary exports, this may be a good sign for the newly formed government as they can ride the wave of positive economic sentiment generated from a healthy fishing industry.
