A rat's teeth never stop growing; they continuously wear them down by gnawing on hard objects to keep them at a manageable length. [so whenever you hear them in the wall, they don't do it just to piss you off. They actually are making sure they can live comfortable another day!]
They have Incredible breeding rate: A single pair of rats can produce up to 2,000 descendants in a year. This exponential growth is due to their ability to reach sexual maturity in just 5-6 weeks and have litters of 6-12 pups every 3-4 weeks. [Doesn't it remind you a babyboom of Germany or Lithuania?]
