Esteemed international observers,
the German Ministry of Economy is releasing a new public tool: the Factory Optimizer. It computes the fastest possible upgrade path from any given factory configuration to the maximum. You enter your player name, the tool imports your current factories, and within seconds you receive a step-by-step build plan: which upgrade next, when to build a new factory, and in what order.

Anyone who has tried to plan their factory expansion in the past few weeks is familiar with the situation. There are various calculators and spreadsheets circulating, all recommending something different. One says upgrade, the other says build, and none of them explain why. We looked at this question more thoroughly than any spreadsheet enthusiast would find comfortable.
The core of the tool is Dijkstra's algorithm, a classical method from graph theory that finds the shortest path through a network. Every possible factory state is modelled as a node, every upgrade and every new construction as an edge with a time weight. The algorithm traverses this graph and identifies the fastest path from your current state to full expansion. No heuristics, no guesswork, just beer and efficiency.
So you do not have to take our word for it, the tool displays the Dijkstra path alongside three simpler strategies: Cheapest first, Factories first, and Upgrades first. The production curve makes the difference visible at a glance. In our tested case, the gap between the optimal and the worst strategy amounts to nearly thirty days. Thirty days in which you are either producing or waiting.

A note on the calculation: the displayed duration is based exclusively on the production points generated by your factories. External income - workers, market profits, bonuses - is not factored in. In practice, you will progress faster. The order, however, remains identical regardless of how quickly or slowly your PP flow.
The Optimizer is a public service provided by this the german ministry of leverage, gambling and profit.
Only available in german, but I believe in you!
Feedback is welcome under this article. The tool will be developed further accordingly.

As always, 20% of all donations under this article are voluntarily redirected as a corruption tax into the German state treasury. Algorithmic excellence ought to support the core budget as well.
