How I met her (part 1)

It all started in April when I met her at the park. She was running with her earphones in, completely focused on her music, and for some reason, that little moment stuck with me. Later, I found out we went to the same university, and somehow we ended up sitting together. Things started going well, so I decided to bring her flowers, and she was really happy about them. Then she invited me to her house for dinner, and obviously I said yes, but afterward I started overthinking the most important question of the entire evening: what the hell was I supposed to wear? Casual? Formal? Something in between? I decided formal was probably the safest choice because apparently meeting someone's family requires me to suddenly pretend I have my life together. Before the dinner, I was tired, so I decided to take a small nap around six, just to get some energy, but somehow I still ended up getting late. Eventually, I made it to the dinner and met her family, and that's when everything went completely wrong. I saw her sister, my classmate's sister, and I don't know what happened, but I instantly thought she was cute. Then I started falling for her. Yeah, I know how bad that sounds. I had come there for one sister and somehow walked away thinking I'd chosen the wrong one. So I decided I needed to break up with the girl I was with, but I didn't just want to leave her with nothing; I wanted to find her a better guy. That sounded easy until I actually tried. Finding someone better than me was like looking for a needle in the sea, because obviously I am the best. After struggling to find anyone suitable, I decided to ask her what kind of guys she liked, hoping that would make things easier, but she kept saying she liked me, which was honestly the least useful answer she could have given me. Then I asked about her sister, and that's when I found out the sister already had a boyfriend. That hit me like a truck. I had finally fallen for the person I actually wanted, only to discover she was already taken. I was completely shocked and, in my very dramatic way, went into depression for a while. But eventually I decided I couldn't just give up. I had to find a way to break up the sister and her boyfriend. I didn't know how yet, and honestly, I probably should have stopped there and thought about whether this was a terrible idea, but instead I started making a plan. And that was the moment I realized this was going to get a lot more complicated before it got any better.
