Not proud of it, but I’ll say it anyway — I once played a game with this exact kind of gameplay. Nation-building, economy, politics, all text and numbers. Lasted less than a week. Deleted it without even understanding what I was supposed to do.
No tutorial prepares you for the moment you’re just staring at the screen thinking “okay but what am I actually doing here.”
So I left.
Fast forward to now. Warera.
Same concept, different game. I don’t know why I gave it another shot honestly. Maybe curiosity. Maybe boredom. But this time something was different — I found the community before I found the confusion.
And that changed everything.
Suddenly the weird numbers made sense. The market, the companies, the wars happening in places I’ve never heard of — it started clicking. Not all at once, but enough to keep me going.
There’s a version of me that would’ve rage-quit by day 3. Again.
But here I am. Still logging in. Still watching my productivity bar crawl forward at a pace that can only be described as geological. Still reading news about diplomatic crises between countries run by actual people.
It’s a slow game. Maybe the slowest I’ve ever played.
But I think that’s the point. Some games you finish. Some games you just… live in for a while.
This might be one of those.
