The Irish Cassette is back. For those not in the know, this was the first national newspaper in Ireland and remains a proud part of our media landscape alongside the Irish War Chronicles, another paper I have run in the past.
I have been politicking for a few months but it would have been slacking of me not to return. For the next month I am committing myself to journalism. As a first act of doing that, I have asked both https://app.warera.io/user/69b03a0ee5230b35c2860968, party primary of the UPI (United People of Ireland).
And https://app.warera.io/user/6976cd6b77dc49b8a4055c3e party primary of the PME (Páirtí Maoirseachta na hÉireann Steward Party), the two major candidates for the upcoming election, to answer four questions that I think will help people decide who they should vote for and get to know a bit more about their approach.
1. What are your key promises for this election cycle, and how do you plan to deliver on them in game, on Discord, or through other means?
2. Are there any decisions from previous administrations you would change, and what specific impact do you think those changes would have on Ireland?
3. Who are your top choices for cabinet positions, and what experience do they bring that qualifies them for those roles?
4. How do you plan to address the ongoing threats from our enemies while also growing Ireland's economy and military strength to ensure long term stability?
Keoneatyou: Encourage community activity, increase population, hopefully negotiate some sort of favourable NI deal, and ensure Ireland is in a strong position to fight for the next global. I plan to accomplish the first two by hosting a lot more community events, and doing a big advertising push on YouTube/Reels/Reddit/Forums, etc. As for the NI deal. I plan to circumvent BEER clause using limited rental deals hopefully, allowing us to use the resources ourselves instead of having to give NI up. For the last point, increasing population will help, but I also plan to commission a new orders bot to help with coordination, as well as a new guide website and new video guides.
KyleTheTank: My key promises are as follows. To secure tax and rental agreements enabling our players to produce items and help ourselves and allies at the same time. To bring the necessary information to where the players are, I believe we are missing out on a large amount of player engagement by having our guides not available easily in game. Finally I also aim to continue cementing our place in BEER and growing our offensive and defensive capabilities.
Keoneatyou: The mass-firing/mass-resignation on day 3 of my term, which destabilized Ireland right after elections, although I believe we recovered well and it hasn't hurt us majorly long-term. If we're speaking in strictly government terms, I think Shmoke's decision to hide the negotiation document from Cabinet was fairly questionable, although I'm not sure of the particular consequences. If we go REALLY far back, I can call out Libertas/Rag and the Greenland fiasco? But I think most lads are a little too young to know that, and overall I think both me and Shmoke had Ireland's best interests at heart.
KyleTheTank: Yes, I think that the promised newsletter from the last administration was a good idea even if it never appeared. I would rather it become an impartial newspaper that can take on aspiring journalists and work in tandem with our propaganda department. I also feel that the issue of having someone fill the role of both Steward and President needs to be addressed. The separation of the roles was created to stop one person having all the power and clearly it has not worked as intended.
Keoneatyou: I think cabinet will stay mostly the same; the big 3 (Boombox for MoFA, Kyle for MoD, and R00ted for Econ) have all performed well throughout my term and I don't see big reasons to replace them. A Minister of Tech position is something new that I am considering, and my IA department will most likely get a rehaul; as unfortunate as it is, I don't believe Shmoke has the time to dedicate himself to the Minister of Education role anymore, so that position will be shuffled in some way. I don't expect drastic changes outside of existing cabinet declining their existing positions.
KyleTheTank: My choices for cabinet are as follows. VP ShmokeandSniff: experienced, level headed and writes an excellent speech. MoFa Boombox: known him since he started playing and he has done an excellent job this far in his position, from strength to strength. MoE Adro: member of PFP and on point sorting out the numbers for operation DADDY. MoD Tal will probably be my choice for the position as he has shown a great interest. With more training and some time in the hot seat I can see a bloodstained future for him.
Keoneatyou: I think Ireland has the capacity to be a major power; we've already come a long way and we're not small anymore, but restrained compared to the Swedes, Portuguese, Germans, etc... due to our smaller population; you'll see that's a major point of my campaign. For FA, I'll continue my policy with BEER (and other allies) throughout the term; happy to work with them when it's favorable, not afraid to push back when it isn't. I'm also hoping to get the second Expedition Corps MU up and rolling, so we have even more firepower during wars (and even during peacetime!), as well as of course the new orders bot and guides mentioned above already.
KyleTheTank: With the ongoing threats being squashed as we speak I think it is important to look ahead to see how we can turn former enemies into neighbours. The true victory comes when we no longer have to worry about the next attack on our borders. I have already started this process by teaching the Belgian president Babu how to play matchera and asking him to share it with his players. Maybe future disputes can be settled over a kick about instead. I believe that my promises for this election I have outlined how my ideas will help us grow in all areas mentioned.
EDITOR'S NOTE
I know I have posted my own personal article about Kyle, but I would urge everybody to give every candidate a good thorough read. Take their answers into account and make your own decision.
You can join the Discord to read and talk to the candidates there. If you do not want to join the Discord, you can click on the candidates I have tagged in this article and read their articles that way.
The choice is yours. Read, consider, and vote.
