Innocent after 6 Months and the New Rules? | Basic Hater Diary

KyselyAugust 7, 2026news

Dear Community,

after a while, I dare to test my luck again (of not getting banned for speaking up) and serve you some news alongside an interesting experience with WarEra moderation.

Some might remember the previous article https://app.warera.io/article/69ea93e6af05b75b07570254, in which we described how moderation treated us with silence and ignorance for months. Surprisingly, a few days ago, the ticket was somewhat resolved and closed. They managed to do it before GTA VI—congratulations to the winners of that bet. If you are interested in a deeper look into what the case was about, please refer to https://app.warera.io/article/699584b01190015c68b04798.

Before I present the final outcome, I would like to thank everyone who participated in the case:

https://app.warera.io/mu/687633b772c4886cc6fa3d56, my team, for their patience, endurance, and courage to contact the admins first and ask for rule clarification.

https://app.warera.io/user/681ec174f6f19b81b61aeb4b who used a rat in our team to leak our Discord chat and presented it as evidence.

https://app.warera.io/user/6813b751efecdf9bab194ab5 who was the first mod to analyze the case and issue the sanction.

https://app.warera.io/user/682786345bbcb9c486e02553 for his boldness in joining the ticket after 3 months of ignorance from other mods and bringing it back to life.

https://app.warera.io/user/690d6b03becd7485dbb33b05 for spending the time to finally listen to all the relevant information and arguments regarding the topic, despite not even being familiar with the game situation back then.

https://app.warera.io/user/681fd9b52a75ce8a59a7437b for clicking the button to close the ticket.

And what is the result?

After more than 5 months, we have achieved the annulment of the previous punishment.

Here is the full reasoning provided by https://app.warera.io/user/690d6b03becd7485dbb33b05:

https://app.warera.io/country/6873d0ea1758b40e712b5f63 / https://app.warera.io/user/6813b756efecdf9bab194ec7:
Rule 6 is not broken. The available notes support a legitimate defensive war effort: Vanuatu was defending its capital and only core, the battle was close, WolfStark had controlled the country for months, and the bounty spending appears connected to national defense rather than personal enrichment or deliberate fund extraction.

In the second case, however, we had to accept the punishment—despite clear gaps in their reasoning and contradictory statements from the mods themselves.

Here is the full reasoning from https://app.warera.io/user/690d6b03becd7485dbb33b05:

https://app.warera.io/country/6873d0ea1758b40e712b5f1c / https://app.warera.io/user/682af04d30641df5ab6a11e4:
Rule 6 is broken. The evidence supports coordinated misuse of state funds through excessive bounty spending from the Battle Mercenary Pool, with prior coordination indicating directed benefit to another player. The post-battle movement away from Guinea-Bissau strengthens the finding that state assets were used for purposes beyond legitimate national interest.

What doesn't fit here?

We were also told the following:

The following is judged based on the rules and events that transpired in that time period.
This is NOT based on today's rules.

Here comes the fun fact: the rules haven't changed for more than half a year and remain exactly the same. Only the interpretation by the new moderation team has shifted compared to the original intent I had back when I was working on this rule as a former mod. Yet, they insisted the rules had changed:

Yes, the rules have changed since then.

There was a post made in February/March about calculating fines and misuses based off generated revenue by the country and the intent behind using the funds.

Later, we found out that moderation now considers standalone articles as part of the official rules as well.
See https://app.warera.io/article/69879fa814b4297da085f8a2. At this point, I should also mention how one of the admins tried to impose new rules via articles, which were then deleted the very next day due to the resulting backlash in https://app.warera.io/article/69ce80e7b3a3e5e779a56ca2.

This precedent of using articles as official rules is a dangerous one.

To make matters worse regarding the final decision, the part they addressed in the article states:

  • Ownership of Funds: Revenue generated through the "hijack" mechanic belongs to the treasury of the country where it was collected. It is not "spoils of war" for the occupying power to distribute.

Since the opening of the ticket, we have claimed that the funds in question came mostly from development built through our own liberation efforts. According to our logic and also a statement from another mod these wouldn't fall under Rule 6.

However, after we pointed that out, the ticket was simply closed.

But we didn't give up just yet.

We opened a new ticket to ask for a final clarification, only to eventually hear that what the other admin had said wasn't correct and that we were still considered guilty in this case:

https://app.warera.io/user/681fd9b52a75ce8a59a7437b: All money generated by the system counts toward Rule 6.

At this point, we simply had to accept the verdict. Despite contradictions within the moderation team, inconsistency compared to other cases, and a complete misinterpretation of the rules.

New rules, finally?

Not to end this article on a bad note, we are happy to share that new rules should finally be coming out. After more than half a year of our fight to get them updated, after getting muted during debates, and after watching these discussions be hidden from the rest of the playerbase.

TLDR:

Thanks for taking the time to read this article!

Yours,
Kysely
