Italian Freedom

News has arrived that, within the occupied territories of Northern Italy, irredentist movements are springing up spontaneously.

The report comes from Padua: the cook at the renowned Caffè Pedrocchi—a site that, in 1848, served as a hub for anti-Habsburg, pro-independence university movements—had been offering discounted prices to German officers for several weeks. Yesterday, October 20th, the cook, one Fabrizio De Dondi, served them strudel, claiming it was for a birthday celebration.

It was later revealed that the pastry had been poisoned, resulting in the deaths of 25 officers—including lieutenants, captains, several colonels, and even a general.

This is just one of many actions carried out by the revived Garibaldi Brigades (partisan groups that emerged after September 8, 1943). Their reach spans from the Karst Plateau to the Carnic Alps, from the Friulian valleys to the Venetian plains, from the mountains of Bolzano to the Po Valley near Bologna, and from the land of Dolcetto wine to the stingy streets of Genoa. They are active through Florence, Rome, Perugia, Naples, Matera, Bari, Messina, Catania, Palermo, Sassari, and Cagliari.

The sons of Romulus still live; the sons of Augustus still fight; the sons of Trajan may know defeat, but never final defeat.

Hans get the hell out of here before you get your teeth smashed in.

It’s about to start raining; if the Po and the Trebbia rivers swell, you’ll be trapped—and we’ll be forced to make ragù out of the asses of these Kraut bastards.

Long live Italy! Long live the Resistance! Long live the insurrection against the invader!
