As the game's political parties continue to mature, even in a beta version, I believe one aspect of party management deserves a second look.
Joining a party is public.
Leaving a party is different.
* Poof *
Whether someone resigns voluntarily or is removed, there is no public record of how their membership ended. One moment they're there. The next, they're gone.
This creates an unnecessary asymmetry in transparency.
I'm not suggesting that parties should publicly justify every internal decision. I simply believe the game would benefit from recording what happened without attempting to explain why it happened.
Without even this minimal information, discussions quickly become a mixture of assumptions, speculation and hearsay rather than observable facts.
Tragically enough, I cannot responsibly confirm or deny what happened in individual cases. Ironically, the lack of records makes it impossible to distinguish facts from rumors, which is precisely why I believe this mechanic deserves improvement.
I understand there may be concerns related to espionage or other strategic gameplay. I could even mention a few real examples, but that would likely drift into discussions better avoided under Rule 7.3.e.
Cheers.
