List of Missing States and Dependent Territories in Caribbean

Greetings all. Per the wiki there are currently 173 countries in the game. That is impressive but still a significant way from reaching all 193 UN recognized countries. Including some of the partially recognized states like Kosovo, Taiwan, and Palestine which are represented in the game but not a part of 193, it would be accurate to say there are about 25 UN recognized countries missing from the game. At a glance, most of these are island nations crowded around Caribbean and Oceania, alongside some unrepresented nations in Europe or off the coast of Africa. Today in my article, I wanted to focus on one of the major zones with missing states: the Caribbean, more specifically the lesser Antilles which are all missing. Let's look together which of these islands missing from the game are independent states and which are dependent territories. In a way, I aim to honor the many unrepresented island countries and perhaps call for their inclusion in the game. What is Antilles 🏝️

Antilles, or Antillean Islands is a group of many islands scattered around the Caribbean Sea, forming an arc between North and South America. These are often divided into two based on their size and location:

Greater Antilles 🇨🇺🇯🇲🇵🇷🇭🇹🇩🇴

These are the much larger islands to the north: Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Hispaniola (island shared by Haiti and Dominican Republic). So, 4 Countries and one dependent territory. Owing to their size, all 5 of these regions are perfectly represented in the game.

Lesser Antilles

This is where we find a bulk of missing, unrepresented countries and dependent territories in the game. the entire island group between Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago are nowhere to be seen.

Lesser Antilles are often sub-divided into three distinct groups. Let's take a look at each group and list the nations and dependent territories missing from our game:

Leeward Islands 🇰🇳🇦🇬

These are the northern bunch made up of many dependent territories of Britain, US, France and Netherlands, but towards rhe south we also have two independent nations of St. Kitts and Nevis, and Antigua and Barbuda.

These are the southern arc of islands where even more independent countries are found.

Leeward Antilles & Others 🇹🇹

While the other two groups cover the volcanic chain, down in the south just off the coast of South America, we have a few more islands, some dependencies of Netherlands, while others are either part of the independent Nation of Trinidad and Tobacco or belonging to Venezuela. Interestingly Warera opted to Depicting Insular Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago while ignoring the Leeward Antilles completely.

In Summation

The game is currently missing 20 island entities made up of 13 dependencies 7 fully independent nations. I sympatize with thr developpera that there are many, they are small and politically rheir aituation can be complicated. Still, I believe not having them at all in the map is not the answer. At the very least the 7 independent island nations should be gicen their countries to approach closer to full coverage worldwide.

My suggestion: adding all island territories to the game but grouping the drpendencies in order not to crowd the regions of the game too much. In total all of lesser antilles can be made to 12 territories:

• British Antilles (UK core territory including British Virgin islands and Anguila)

• US Virgin Islands (USA Core territory)

• French Antilles (France core territory including Saint Martin, Saint Barthélemy, Monserrat, Guadelopupe and Martinique)

• Dutch Antilles (Netherlands Core Territory including Sint Maarten, Saba and Sint Eustatius(

• St. Kitts and Nevis (independent country)

• Antigua and Barbuda (independent country)

• Dominica (independent country)

• St. Lucia (independent country)

• St. Vincent and the Grenadines (independent country)

• Grenada (independent country)

• Barbados (independent country)

• Leeward Antilles (Netherlands core territory including Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire)

Let nations of the antilles be represented by their countries please! You know it is the right thing to do. The game won't be complete without this step.
