The Type 96 Light Machine Gun is a 30 round, 6.5x50mm Arisaka, top fed Japanese MG with many unique possibilities.

After Japan captured many ZB26 Czechoslovakian MGs in China, mr. Kijiro Nambu has, inspired by the sleek design of the ZB26, designed the Type 96 in 1936.

Between 1936 and 1943 around 41 000 units were produced.

It could be fitted with a bayonet, a 2.5x zoom scope or even an armor shield, These were all optional and not standard issue.

The bipod and the top ergonomic handle, which allowed easier transport and hipfire control, were standard components.
