My First 5 Days in WarEra: From “Nah” to Hooked

So... imagine this.

For months your brother won’t stop talking about a browser game. You finally open it, but people are coming over in half an hour. You click around a bit, get overwhelmed, and close it. Not for me, you think.

That same evening, you text the girl you like and tell her you like her. While you nervously wait for her reply, you need something to distract you. So you give the game another shot.

That was my first day in WarEra.

Five days later

I’m now level 13. I’ve already seen my country riot over a perma mute. And between us, don’t tell the Chaplain, but I think I’m hooked. Maybe not as badly as him (yet), but I went from taking a quick look to see what he was going on about to keeping the tab open 24/7 and checking on the war against Fr*nce all day long.

This game can be overwhelming. What saved me was the community. Between helpful guides and kind people answering my (many) questions, I quickly started figuring things out. So to everyone who helped a newbie out: thank you.

The irony

I’ve been hearing the Chaplain rave about this game since the summer. Then, in the very week I finally join, one of Belgium’s biggest players gets perma muted, the #FreeBabu movement kicks off, and my whole country is furious at the game.

Honestly, it felt exactly like this:

But if history has taught us anything, it’s that Belgians keep resisting and refuse to bend the knee. Now that includes me.

The verdict

I promised to play until level 15 so my brother would get his referral bonus. I decided to stick around before I even got there.

See you on the battlefield. 🇧🇪
