NEW CITIZEN'S HANDBOOK

This part of the New Citizen's Handbook (NCH) will cover money, companies, reinvestment, and how to build an economy that actually grows.
There are plenty of ways to make money in WarEra. You can become the next steel titan, day-trader, paid journalist, weapons/gear manufacturer, or mercenary warlord (just to name a few).
You can buy from/sell to other players, watch market movements, candlesticks and charts, build positions, and eventually become the kind of person who moves enough volume to make everyone else nervous.
But that rabbit hole comes later...
For now, your companies are your foundation.

Seeing Gold in your balance does not automatically mean you're doing well.
An efficient economy keeps producing more of it, constantly.
As a new player, the main question is therefore not: "What can I buy?"
It's: "What can I do to make my account stronger tomorrow?"
Higher purchasing power lets you afford better gear, and therefore more damage and influence on the geopolitical landscape.
That means: reinvest your gains and cultivate your overall wealth, not just your cash balance.

Companies are one of the main ways your account produces value.
You build them, upgrade them, improve their efficiency, and use them to produce resources.
Over time, that production becomes the engine behind almost everything else you want to do.
Early growth is mostly about compounding. Your companies produce value and that value can be blown on unsustainable gear, or it can be reinvested.
Better companies produce more. More production creates more income. More income lets you expand faster. And then the cycle repeats.

Optimize your growth for maximal gains.
There are 2 types of upgrades to any factory:
- Automated Engine (increases production)
- Storage (increases storage space)
You can also hire workers later, but this is generally not profitable for fresh accounts.
You do not need to manually calculate the perfect order for every company upgrade, the community has already built tools for that.
Some of them can read your current companies, estimate different upgrade paths, and tell you what your most efficient next step is.
That matters because the difference between "this upgrade looks good" and "this is mathematically my best next investment" can add up very quickly.

Also beware of production bonuses when choosing company locations. Tax becomes relevant when you start hiring workers. These stats greatly affect your profits at scale.
You can find relevant tools in NCH: Tools Addendum, but my personal favorite is this one using the "Factory Builder" tab.

Companies are not the only way to build wealth.
WarEra has a player-driven market, which means prices move, opportunities appear, and some players eventually make a large part of their money from trading, investing and market movements rather than pure production.
Here's a link to the 3rd party price-chart I use.
If you're the kind of person who sees a price chart and immediately starts wondering where the spread is...
You'll have things to do later.
A lot of things.
For now, however, build the machine first.
Feel free to share these beginner guides with new citizen's to give them a solid foundation to stand on.
Note: if any information is missing, please drop a comment explaining it. That way confused newborns don't have to search for it on their own.
