SPLIT CITY

Split is a second biggest city in Croatia with litlle over than 500 000 people! When we talk about Split that is a city with very unique and special aura of all croatian cities. In the Split first stuff that someone will ask you "Za koga navijaš"? (For who are you rooting for?). That is a fan catchphrase becouse all Split supporting one saint football club(i will write about him below)

Split is very old city and its roots goes to roman times where they have their own settlement which is called Salona. Salona was part of the old ancient roman empire and we have alot of proofs of its existence to even this day.

In the Split we have a beatifull walking site near the sea which is called "Splitska riva" where you can sit in the front of sea, drink coffe/beer and enjoy in the excelent view.

In the Split nights are excelent becouse there is alot of discos and party places which always attract alot of young people who want's to have a fun and crazy unforgetable nightouts.

Tradition:

In city of Split every new year they have a "Polnoćka na Marjanu"(Midnight on Marjan) in which alot of resident go to small church on the hill Marjan to celebrate and wait a new year with happines and joy. The interesting fact that this tradition is happenigh about 16:00 pm and it attract a very big number of local residents and tourists.

In Split we have a famous "Picigin na bačvicama", Picigin is croatian protected sea game where 5 or more people are kicking the tennis ball or any kind of smaller ball continuosly and don't let the ball fall in the sea. The game is played in shallow water and the main trick is the acrobatic jumps of the players who do not let the ball fall into the sea.

Part of the Split is also a famous Diocletian's palace and it is a living proof of a Dioklecijan (Roman emperor during 3rd century).

One of the most famous sacred relic in Split is Hajduk Split ! Hajduk Split is football club that is founded 13. february 1911 and from then it is most sacred club for mostly of Dalmatian citizens! Our famous and most beatifull stadion is called "Poljud" and it was one of nicest stadions in Europe in the past.

Supporters of this sacred club are called Torcida ! We are one of the well known football fans throught whole world and we stand by nothing!

Split is also very famous for "Fritula". Fritula is a traditional Croatian dessert that resembles small, round doughnuts. It is made from fried dough with the addition of aromatic ingredients, and is especially popular in Dubrovnik and along the coast during holidays and carnivals.

Protector of CIty of the Split is Saint Dujam also known among citizens like "SVeti Duje". He was a priest and martyr during a Diocletian times..

Today in the city we have a Cathedral of Saint Duje and it is one of the nicest views of the Split!
