Your workers bring you events every day, and most come with a button that costs gold. I priced all 78 of them: most paid buttons lose you money. The picture below is the whole answer; open a section for the proof.

THE SHORT VERSION
1 wage-day = one day of that worker's pay, about one day of his work. A +10% boost for 2 days is worth only 0.2 of a day.
Only 9 of 43 paid buttons give back more than they cost. The sandwich gives back a quarter of its price.
The biggest wins are free: let your workers become friends (+15% each).

A paid button costs days of that worker's wage. +10% for 2 days buys back 0.2 of a day. Average worker today: 2.13 gold a day.

You pay 2.13 gold and get back 0.53. Press "Keep feeding it sandwiches" instead: it is free.

All of them lose gold in every case I tested. "Pay the inspection fee" gives you nothing at all.

Kevin pays back 4 times its price, the compliment twice. The trip home only for a Homesick worker.

Old Friends work +15% each: about 19 gold a month, for free. Sweethearts +20%.

After 36 hours the game presses a button for you, and for these it is the risky one.

Say yes only if your good is cheap (teal). It wants 40 raw or 12 manufactured units of it.

Base + 2% per level of your Management + your worker's Luck and mood. 35% of players have Management 0.

3 workers bring 1 a day, 12 bring 2, 27 bring 3. Answering them right is worth about 4 gold a day.

Teal = press it. Gold = what you come out ahead on average, after the price.
Numbers: the game's own event table (31 October, v0.27.3) and the live game: 174,867 employees, wages from employee tax, 400 sampled players. Average company: 2 workers paid 2.13 gold a day. Gold figures are averages. Corrections welcome in the comments.
