This suggestion was too complicated to be posted in Discord. I present you: The Buildings Update (Real name: World Economy Update)
Credits to: i forgor, right now i can only name ANTI and bo2101 in Discord.
Index:
1) Removal of strategic resources and specialized resources
2) CORE BUILDING:
THE FACTORY
3) Specialized resources FAQ
Right now we are having a problem with the economy, just few countries can participate, even when the biggest one fall, this will keep happening, so, here i am presenting a new system to get prod bonus:
The passive production bonus based on random resources is removed. Now, the Government must actively choose a "Specialized/National Resource" (e.g., Wheat, Iron, Oil).
To fully participate in this new economic system, a country requires a minimum active population of 5 players. Eligible governments must select a specific resource for 'National Specialization.' This choice grants a significant Production Bonus to all private companies producing that specific resource.
- Countries that have 4 players or less, have a 90% debuff on proficiency in all their factories. Removes proxies off the equation.
Choosing the resource does not grant the bonus automatically.
It only enables the potential to buff it through factories (building), so if i choose Oil, i need my buildings at full power to upgrade the prod bonus of that resource inside the country. So it actually requires an extra cost to run these factories, you could lose some money boy...

Buildings it's a new mechanic for countries to invest in their money.
and the Factory it's the most important one, and the pillar to start making money for a country.
Factory let's the country buff their production bonus of a specialized resource for companies inside their territories. The Main One (built inside your capital) gives a good enough prod bonus floor.
Factories run on a lot of OIL, so be careful.
(read slow to understand, this is the most complicated part of the suggestion)
Every factory has 4 levels.
Levels in factories buff the production bonus in the next way per level:
Formula:
Bonus = Base x (Regions)
^0.43
(there's one for effective regions too)TOTAL REGIONS EX WITH FORMULA:
Click here to see the image
The Proxy Penalty (90% Debuff) To prevent "Proxy Empires" (massive territories with no active players), the formula uses Effective Regions instead of raw total regions.
Active Region: Has 5 players → Counts as 1.0 region.
Proxy/Empty Region: has 4 players or less→ Counts as 0.1 region (90% Penalty).
Example: An empire with 60 Regions that is 80% empty (Proxies) will be calculated as having only ~16.8 Effective Regions, dropping their bonus from 64% to roughly 36%.
The formula for the debuff it's presented too in the table as EffectiveRegions
THE TABLE WITHOUT FORMAT:
SCALING DATA (Formula: 11% * Regions^0.43)
1 Region
Level 1: 2.8%
Level 4 (Max): 11.0%
10 Regions
Level 1: 7.4%
Level 4 (Max): 29.6%
Proxy Empire*: 17.1%
20 Regions
Level 1: 9.9%
Level 4 (Max): 39.9%
Proxy Empire*: 23.1%
30 Regions
Level 1: 11.9%
Level 4 (Max): 47.5%
Proxy Empire*: 27.5%
40 Regions
Level 1: 13.4%
Level 4 (Max): 53.8%
Proxy Empire*: 31.2%
Proxy Empire Note: This value simulates a massive empire where only 20% of regions have active workers. The other 80% are empty (ghost) regions and suffer a 90% efficiency penalty.
Every region now it's important to buff your country prod bonus. The base prod bonus for your country will be close to 12% (you only need your capital for that). Venezuela right now has 30% with this new update, how i can compete?
Well, specialized resources it's the idea to make the job market more viable for all countries, Venezuela could be applying their 30% bonus to fish only, while no one it's specialized in cocaine, now, it's your time, you can specialize in that and attract those types of companies, congrats.
