Inspired from his iconic article: Let Me Stop Selling Bullets to the Guy Shooting at Me
Here's the thing
Why can I, a loyal citizen of Country A, go get a job in a company owned by someone from Country B (a country we’re actively at war with)… or even work inside their territory and they get their taxes… and everything is just fine?
Like… I’m literally helping their economy while they’re trying to destroy mine??
In another words ,
War Era already lets us declare wars, form alliances, and mark sworn enemies. But somehow… I can still work in a company for the guy shooting at me?
So here’s my proposal:
Add Employment Restrictions During War which has to be accepted by the congress
The short version:
1.Citizens cannot work for companies owned by enemy citizens .
2.Citizens cannot work inside enemy territory while war is active.
3.Companies owned by enemies can't be on your land
The important part:
This should go both ways.
If we block their companies and jobs, we also lose access to theirs. So it’s not just a free advantage — it becomes a strategic economic decision, just like sanctions. This also will be effective if there is a high bonus you have and you do not want your enemies to have advantage of.
What this adds to the game:
Right now, war is mostly about damage and stats.
This would:
1.Make economy actually matter during war and wont be just about damage .
2.Give more importance to working to companies in your lands or allies which will get the benefit of taxes instead. 3. you are somehow helping the eco of individuals of your country or allies that indirectly will help the country growth.
4.Add realism — because no country would let its citizens casually work for the enemy mid-war
