Since we published our report on the government's attempts to silence ordinary citizens, something has shifted. The response from those in power — and those who follow them — has not been reflection. It has not been dialogue. It has been personal.
Tank Belang, as a party and as a group of individuals, has been called out by name. Insulted. Mocked. The attacks have not been aimed at our ideas or our positions — they have been aimed at the people behind them. That is a line that should not be crossed in any political arena, real or virtual.
"When you cannot argue against what someone stands for, you attack who they are. That is not strength. That is the last move of someone who has already lost the argument."
We want to be absolutely clear about what Tank Belang is and what it is not. We are a party operating within this game. We use the mechanics this game provides — the laws, the politics, the elections, the economy — exactly as they were designed to be used. We have done nothing outside the rules. We have done nothing that any other player could not do.
This is a political simulation. Politics, by its nature, involves disagreement, opposition, and competition. If the government and its supporters are uncomfortable with a party that challenges them, that discomfort is called democracy — not an excuse to insult people.
"We pressed the same buttons, used the same menus, and followed the same rules as everyone else. The only difference is that it inconvenienced someone with a title."
To those who have aimed personal insults at members of this party: you have not hurt us. You have only shown everyone watching exactly the kind of governance you represent. Every name called, every personal attack, every targeted insult is a data point — and the citizens of this nation are paying attention.
Tank Belang will continue to play this game. Loudly. Legally. And without apology.
