Termination of NAP - Kenya & South Africa

To the Government of Kenya,

Following recent events, the Government of South Africa has concluded that the diplomatic circumstances under which the SR Rental, Peace Treaty, and Non-Aggression Pact were negotiated no longer exist.

Kenya's recent aggressive actions toward nations closely aligned with South Africa have fundamentally altered the strategic environment that formed the basis of this agreement. While the treaty itself may not have been directly breached, these actions have demonstrated a clear breakdown in trust and confidence between our governments.

Furthermore, South Africa has reached the conclusion that the negotiations leading to this agreement were not conducted in good faith. Recent events have led us to believe that the treaty's primary purpose was not the establishment of lasting regional stability, but rather the temporary removal of South Africa as a factor while preparations were made for aggressive actions against our allies and partners.

Whether intentional or otherwise, the result has been the same: the foundation of mutual trust required for this agreement to function no longer exists.

As such, South Africa hereby exercises its right under the Termination clause of the treaty and serves formal notice of termination.

In accordance with the agreement, all provisions of the treaty shall remain in force for seven (7) days from the date of this notice, (after which the agreement shall expire in its entirety unless otherwise agreed in writing by both parties. Saturday, 20 June 2026 13:33

South Africa will continue to honour its obligations during the notice period and expects the same from Kenya.

We regret that circumstances have led to this outcome, but we believe this course of action is necessary given the current state of regional affairs.
