The Absurd Situation of the Italian Discord and Its Reflection in the Game

MastropagliaJune 3, 2026news

With this short article, I want to raise awareness about what is happening in the Italian Discord. I do not know whether this situation is the same in other nations as well; if it is, it would be important to address and resolve it.

In theory, as in every national server, there is a well-defined organizational structure: everyone has their own role and position, as is right and expected. There is the president, the vice president, various ministers, members of congress, commanders of the country’s MU units, ambassadors, and so on.

Everything seems perfect, you might say. But it is only appearance.

In Italy, there is now a common meme: the so-called “shadow government.” It does not matter who officially holds the position of president or any other role; there are always the same people who, in practice, concentrate all decision-making power in their hands, regardless of formal titles.

What problems can this situation cause

1. Lack of meritocracy
Official roles lose their value because real decisions are not made by those who are supposed to hold them. This discourages more capable players from stepping up and taking responsibility.

2. Centralization of power
When only a few people control everything, the system becomes rigid and less transparent. Decisions depend on a small group rather than a shared structure.

3. Demotivation of the community
Players feel useless or excluded because they realize their contributions carry little weight compared to those of the “dominant group.”

4. Lack of turnover and stagnation
If the same people always remain in control, there is no room for new ideas or new leaders. The result is limited long-term growth.

5. Internal conflicts and divisions
The presence of a “shadow government” can create tension between those who formally hold power and those who actually exercise it, leading to friction and factionalism.

6. Loss of credibility externally
Other nations or allies may perceive instability or a lack of seriousness in internal management, especially if official roles do not match actual decision-makers.

7. Inefficient decision-making
A non-transparent system slows down decisions and creates confusion about responsibilities and roles, especially in critical moments (wars, crises, events).

Appeal to the moderators: for a healthier and more transparent management

To the moderators of the Italian Discord,

This is not meant to be a pointless criticism, but rather a serious invitation to reflect on the current situation within the community. In recent times, a dynamic has become increasingly evident to many: the so-called “shadow government,” where real decision-making power is concentrated in the hands of a few individuals, regardless of official roles.

An organizational structure exists on paper, but in practice it is often emptied of meaning. This not only creates confusion but may also harm the entire community in the long run.

For this reason, I ask you to intervene in order to improve the situation.

It is essential to restore greater transparency in decision-making, making it clear who decides what and on what basis. At the same time, it is necessary to give real value to official roles, ensuring that those who hold positions of responsibility can actually perform their duties.

Finally, it is important to limit the concentration of power in the hands of a few, promoting instead a more balanced and merit-based system. We understand that managing a community is not easy and that many decisions are made with the intention of doing what is best. Precisely for this reason, however, it is essential to listen when dissatisfaction arises and turn it into an opportunity for improvement.

This appeal comes from the desire to see the Italian community grow stronger, more stable, fairer, and more engaging for everyone.

The next step is in your hands.

Thank You.
