The Fall of the Federation?

I have been around for a little while now, but the first thing I learned when I joined China in Warera was that we are part of The Federation, and SMD is our enemy. They are the bad guys and we must fight them. However, after several months of continuously wiping SMD and getting wiped in return, I realized no one was really profiting from this endless cycle. So, when I heard SMD offered Non-Aggression Pacts (NAPs) after we got wiped yet again, I became a big advocate for finally creating peace in Asia.

Unfortunately, The Federation kept declining NAPs from SMD. In my eyes, they offered pretty reasonable proposals—some might disagree, but at least from my perspective, it would have been the first big step for Asia.

What shocked me the most was seeing screenshots from the Council channels where a member declared that accepting a NAP meant "admitting defeat." In my eyes, this is the worst possible attitude you could have as a high council member.

To no one's surprise, SMD's NAP got declined. Whether the result would have changed if these plans had been discussed more thoroughly with all members of TF is hard to say, but I think it was rushed by the high council and marked the first major mistake in TF's downfall.

The real irony here is what happened next. You know what isn't admitting defeat? Disbanding the whole alliance. Yes, basically TF said, "We are too weak, we can't fight you, and we won't make any deals," so they just went ahead and joined a bigger alliance instead.

Fast forward to an update that limited alliance sizes, splitting everyone into smaller units. Now, "former" TF scrambled together with a few other IB countries. Note that Vietnam boycotted these actions because they were seemingly annoyed by the ongoing war between SMD and TF. Besides Vietnam, we lost North Korea, East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Czechia, Slovakia, the United Arab Emirates, and more. Of course, these departures can't be pinned solely on the ongoing battles, but they show a declining trend: people are bored, burnt out, and want to focus on other things or build a new storyline.

Now, how is the situation looking? After we won back some regions while IB was still united, Unchained Hippo (at least the Asian countries) got instantly wiped. Taiwan is spread over China, Thailand owns India, and Indonesia is effectively making Southeast Asia their front yard. We are actively losing revolts—yes, the revolts where you get up to a 30% damage bonus—and it is being sold as a win because we are "draining their resources." But let's be real: how low do you have to sink to sell losing a revolt as a victory?

So, all things considered, my definition of thriving is different. The main actors against SMD left over are Malaysia, India, and the Philippines. The question I am really asking myself is what the plan is in the long, long run (I mentioned that this conflict has been going on for nine months, but how is the morale in these countries? Do they still want to fight?). In my country, I am seen as the villain because I want to take a different approach and befriend SMD, but I am not sure if I am all alone in this opinion. We could build an untouchable economy in SEA. If we wanted to, we could do a lot of fun things, stand against the big alliances, and maybe attack some countries in Africa. But keep fighting the exact same few countries for over nine months?

Yes, it is a war game, and it is fun to have an arch-enemy, defeat them, and argue about who is morally right and wrong (even though this sometimes goes too far). It is an important part of the game. But this cycle has gotten stale, and I personally believe the next historic accomplishment should be a peace pact across most of SEA.

Note: I corrected grammar and structure with AI cause I am dyslexic and not a good writer. Also, I hope this text is not too all over the place and I get my message across.
